Wildcard prompts exist to break a pattern. Three careful rounds in, everyone has worked out what the room rewards and started submitting for it. A brief like "The Soundtrack to Your Worst Job Interview" has no obvious right answer, so the safe strategy stops working and people submit something they actually find funny.
How do you answer an oddly specific prompt?
Commit to the bit. The scoring failure mode on a wildcard is hedging: picking a good song that loosely fits, when the room is going to reward the mediocre song that fits perfectly. "Walking Out of Court After Getting Away With It" is asking for swagger, and a technically better track with none of it will lose.
Are wildcard rounds good for new players?
Yes, better than most. Someone who has never played does not know what the group taste is yet, and on a normal prompt that is a real disadvantage. A wildcard flattens it, because nobody is an expert on what a job interview sounds like and everyone is guessing at the same thing.
