Aux Battles and songbattle.io both let groups submit songs and vote, but Aux Battles now covers both formats songbattle.io offers. Regular rooms run prompt-based rounds where everyone answers the same category. Twitch Battles add a 1v1 elimination bracket you referee live, plus a Friends Mode judged entirely by chat.
Which format is right depends on what you want out of it. Brackets find one winning song; prompts find who has the best taste. You no longer have to pick one tool over the other to get both.

Prompt rounds, in every room
Every room, Twitch or not, can run prompt-based rounds: everyone answers the same category, votes 1–5 stars, and scores carry across rounds on a live leaderboard.
Brackets, on Twitch
Turn on Bracket format for a Twitch Battle and every submission seeds into a 1v1 elimination tournament. You referee each matchup while chat's vote split shows live on screen.
What gets crowned
Prompt rounds crown a person, because the leaderboard tracks who consistently picked well across different categories. A bracket crowns a song, since only one track survives the tournament.
Session length
A bracket with 16 tracks is 15 matchups before you have a winner. Prompt rounds resolve in about four minutes each and you can stop whenever.
When a bracket is the right choice
If the question you actually want answered is "what is the best song in this group's collective library", a bracket answers it properly. Head-to-head comparison is a better instrument for that than star ratings, because people rate more consistently when choosing between two things than when scoring in isolation.
Brackets also suit large submission pools well. A big Twitch chat dumping 60 tracks is a natural bracket and an unwieldy round.
When prompts are the right choice
If you want a game rather than a poll, prompts. The constraint is what creates the argument, and arguing about whether a pick actually fits "song that hits different at 3am" is the entertainment.
Prompts also handle repeat play better. A bracket run twice with the same group produces roughly the same winner. A different prompt makes a different person the favourite, which is why groups come back to it.
And for mixed-taste groups, prompts are much kinder. A bracket surfaces whatever the group's median taste is; prompts let a country fan and a hyperpop fan both win rounds.
What is the same, and what is not
Both are free, browser-based, and need no download. Both support Spotify, YouTube and SoundCloud. Both run on Twitch with chat voting and, now, both can run a 1v1 elimination bracket.
The difference is that Aux Battles does not make you choose one format for good. The same account can run a prompt-round house party tonight and a bracket tournament on stream tomorrow, and Twitch streamers get a third option songbattle.io does not have: Friends Mode, where real friends submit and chat alone judges the winner.

Less than there used to be. songbattle.io only runs a 1v1 elimination bracket. Aux Battles runs prompt-based rounds everywhere, and on Twitch you can also choose a Bracket Tournament or a Friends Mode where chat alone judges your crew.
Which is better for a Twitch stream?
Aux Battles now covers both. Pick Bracket format for a big submission pool that resolves into one champion, or Classic prompt rounds for repeated short segments instead of one long tournament.
Does Aux Battles support Apple Music?
Not currently. Spotify, YouTube, YouTube Music and SoundCloud are supported. songbattle.io does support Apple Music, so if your group is on it, that is a real reason to use them.
Do I need an account for either?
Aux Battles needs no account for a regular room: you join with a four-letter code and a display name. Twitch Battles need the streamer to connect a Twitch account; viewers still need no login to vote.
Can I use both?
Yes, and plenty of groups do. Aux Battles now covers the bracket format too, so some streamers run everything in one tool while others still like keeping two options around.
